Careers in California Policy Conference

Overview

The California Department of Finance—the state agency that functions as the Governor's chief fiscal policy advisor and promotes long-term economic sustainability and responsible resource allocation—is hosting the Careers in California Policy Conference on Friday, October 13, 2017, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm at the State Capitol in Sacramento, California.

The conference is open to (1) undergraduate students who will graduate by spring 2018 and (2) all graduate students. The conference is an opportunity for students to interact with state policy experts, network with other students interested in public policy, and discuss:

  • California's government, economy, and demographics.
  • The state's legislative and budget processes.
  • Current issues in state policy, with opportunities for participants to focus on:
    • K-12 education, higher education, and labor.
    • Health, human services, and corrections and rehabilitation.
    • The environment, natural resources, and transportation.
  • Careers in California state government.

In addition, as part of the program, students will be matched with current Department of Finance budget staff for conversations about the department’s work.
