Jolie Onodera

Legislative Director, Department of Finance

Jolie Onodera is the Legislative Director for the California Department of Finance. In this capacity, she advises the Director and the Governor’s Office in the planning, implementation, administration, and evaluation of fiscal and legislative issues affecting the budgetary process and the state’s fiscal condition.

Ms. Onodera was most recently the Deputy Secretary of Legislation at the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency. Prior to her appointment, she served as a principal consultant for the California State Senate Committee on Appropriations from 2011 to 2016 working on public safety, judiciary, and human services issues. She was a research program specialist at the California Department of Social Services and the California Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board. Prior to joining the California Department of Social Services, she was a bank examiner at the California Department of Financial Institutions.

Ms. Onodera earned a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.
