Stephen Benson
Assistant Program Budget Manager, RECE, California Department of Finance
Stephen Benson joined the Department of Finance in 2005. As an Assistant Program Budget Manager, he manages a team engaging in budgetary policy analysis and annual budget oversight of 22 state departments focused on natural resources and emergency response, including the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the Office of Emergency Services. In this capacity, he represents the Department and the Governor’s Administration in legislative budget hearings and other venues, as appropriate. Stephen also serves as the Director’s designee on several state conservancy boards and commissions. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. In his spare time, Stephen likes to hike, camp, play sports, and spend time with his family.
