Department of Finance Directors

Cynthia Bryant was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger December 7, 2010 for his final month in office after Director Matosantos briefly resigned to oversee the transition of the Brown administration. She was previously Chief Deputy Director for Policy for Finance, appointed in January 2010. She served in the Schwarzenegger Administration since November 2003, first as Chief Deputy Legislative Affairs Secretary and then Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research. She also served as Chairman of the Strategic Growth Council. Following her time at finance, Bryant served as the Executive Director of the California Republican Party and now operates a consulting company, Bryant Strategies.

Ms. Bryant received her juris doctor from University of California Hastings College of the Law and her B.A. from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
